Over the past years, renewable energy adoption has massively outperformed expectations, illustrated by the explosive growth in global energy capacity. Wind and solar power have led this charge by being the fastest growers, with roughly 50% contribution from clean energy expected by 2030.

This growth is certainly commendable and represents the blueprints for a much more sustainable world driven by clean energy. However, this infrastructure growth in capacity also leads to a practical headache for energy farm owners — how in the world would they track performance of each single turbine and panel over vast expanses of land? Within a typical 25MW solar plant, hundreds and thousands of panels are spread across more than a hundred acres of land, collecting more than 2 Mn data points every day. Walking around manually collecting data is certainly out of the question, unless back pain, aching legs, and a splitting headache are the end goals here.

We’re hence thrilled to participate in Prescinto’s latest funding round to bring smart decision analytics to renewable energy farms. Being a one-stop platform to know all there is to know about a farm’s performance, they bring forth a much-needed step to digitise the industry.

Founded by Puneet Singh Jaggi, Sanjay Bhasin, and Ram Menon, Prescinto packs a proven leadership team who have been in charge of building some of the largest renewable energy and tech companies around. Puneet co-founded the Gensol Group, a renewable energy service provider, after graduating from IIT Roorkee and has since grown it into a BSE-listed company. Sanjay built SunTerrace Energy, a solar energy development company after leaving his previous post as a Vice President at Samsung Electronics. As for Ram, he brings about superior technical expertise, most notably in managing the big data and analytics project team for AADHAAR while at Mindtree.

With their collective experience and nous in the clean energy space, Prescinto was developed to diagnose underperformance in solar and wind energy farms using AI-based loss bucketing. Providing a high level of granularity, the analytics platform classifies deficiencies and visualises underperforming areas to become a valuable data assistant for farm owners. Not only do they help save hundreds of man hours, they also effectively leverage the massive data output that energy plants generate daily, ultimately optimising the total energy output.

Lying at the intersection of AI and renewable energy, their data-driven approach to solve problems within sustainable energy generation truly spoke out to us. Having marked their expansion to the US market in 2022, we’re super enthusiastic to join their journey in bringing better renewable energy management and storage to the world.
